Alan

Alan is currently Senior Scientist and Head of Knowledge Exchange and Development in LGC's Science and Innovation Division. Prior to this appointment Alan was International Business Manager in LGC. He joined LGC in 1998 after spending more than 30 years working for ICI (Imperial Chemical Industries) managing various corporate analytical operations and leading ICI’s Separation Science Group.
 
Alan is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Past President of the RSC’s Analytical Division, Past President of the Chromatographic Society, and Associate of the Chromatographic Society of India. He currently serves on the Analytical Division Council, Analytical Chemistry Trust Fund and Analytical Methods Committee, and is a RSC assessor for training courses and a member of the Merseyside Schools Analyst Committee. He was awarded the RSC Distinguished Service Award in 2008 for contributions to UK analytical chemistry by a non-academic. He is an honorary lecturer at the University of Bangor and has held similar positions at Royal Holloway, University of London and the University of Salford.

Alan is the author of a number of papers and books on chromatography and sample preparation and was editor for CRC’s “Analytical Chemistry” series. He has presented at many international conferences throughout the world on a variety of topic areas associated with analytical chemistry and measurement.
